SoundOff Signal needed more than a simple website refresh. Their products combine standard and configured parts, requiring a system capable of handling thousands of unique configurations depending on the product and client. Their goals were clear: replace an aging product configurator, launch a modern B2B web store, and ensure seamless data migration and system integration - all on Salesforce.
Leveraging ForteNext's deep Salesforce expertise, our team built a tailored solution using Salesforce CPQ at its core. Rather than forcing SoundOff Signal's complex configuration logic into an off-the-shelf framework, we extended CPQ with custom development to match the nuances of their product catalog and dealer workflows.
The engagement covered four interconnected workstreams:
Product Configurator - We built an admin-managed product questionnaire that dynamically adapts the user interface based on product type, auto-fills configuration fields using custom JavaScript, and generates a visual representation of the configured light bar in real time. The result is a guided experience that reduces dealer errors and speeds up the quoting process.
Data Migration and Synchronization - Moving from a legacy system meant adapting an entirely different data model. Our team handled the migration through a combination of scripting and manual configuration, built import/export tooling for configurations, and synchronized product images and files with the Bynder Digital Asset Manager.
ERP Integration - We connected the Salesforce environment to SoundOff Signal's Made2Manage ERP, enabling automatic transfer of item master data for configured products - including part codes, pricing, build instructions, required components, and stick figure visual references used by the production line.
B2B Commerce Store - The new dealer portal features an online catalog with rich product pages, personalized pricing, and a full configuration interface where dealers can specify light bar colors, blink frequency, light movement, layout, and mounting options. A generated stick figure diagram ensures the production team knows exactly how to build each order.
After eight months of development and several months of training and configuration covering more than 18 light bar products, the SoundOff Signal dealer portal went live. The platform created a single source of truth for product data across Salesforce and the ERP, reduced the effort required to generate quotes, and meaningfully improved the experience for both dealers and internal teams.
