Ovation Medical manufactures and distributes orthopedic products to more than 12,000 private practices, medical facilities, and retailers across the U.S. With a customer base that large, the manual overhead of managing repeat orders was a real drag on their sales organization's capacity to grow.

ForteNext, Forte Group's specialized Salesforce division, partnered with Ovation Medical to close that gap - delivering a self-service B2B purchasing portal in just four weeks.
The Challenge

Ovation Medical already had Salesforce in place for CRM, and they saw a clear opportunity: use Salesforce B2B Commerce to automate repeat ordering and free their sales team to focus on growth rather than order administration. The platform was a natural fit, but the timing made this initiative genuinely pioneering - Salesforce had only just launched its B2B Commerce app when the project kicked off in July 2020, making this one of the first implementations of its kind.

Our Approach

ForteNext worked closely with the Ovation team and Salesforce product managers to design and build a B2B purchasing portal tailored to Ovation's specific workflows - not a generic out-of-the-box deployment, but a solution wired into their existing systems from day one.

The work covered four interconnected areas:

Sales Process Automation - Automated order creation for existing customers, and a streamlined onboarding flow for new customers that requires minimal involvement from the sales team. Less manual work per account means more accounts each rep can effectively manage.

Order Data Integration - A set of customizations to introduce B2B Commerce into Ovation's existing data management and order fulfillment flows without disrupting operations. The new portal had to fit into the machine, not replace it.

Self-Service Reordering - A custom "Order Now" page built on B2B Commerce's Lists feature, giving registered customers instant access to their order history with individual pricing already applied. Reordering became a matter of clicks rather than calls.

Custom Order Flow - A bridge connecting the new B2B Commerce portal to Ovation's existing order processing infrastructure - Salesforce CRM and Fishbowl - ensuring orders placed online moved through fulfillment without manual hand-offs.

The Outcome

The MVP went live in four weeks. The impact was immediate and measurable: sales rep productivity doubled, order processing time was cut in half, and each rep now manages more than 400 customer accounts through the platform. Roughly 30-40% of the feature set was custom-built to match Ovation's specific needs - a reflection of how seriously ForteNext takes fitting the solution to the business rather than the other way around.
